Going up against a normally strong opponent in Loomis seemed a huge feat prior to the first whistle, but we were able to respond quickly to a one goal deficit early on.
In the 15th minute, Walker Boardman played a great ball to Ben Taylor after turning on his defender. Taylor beat the first defender with a burst of speed and then cut inside to his right foot to beat two more defenders and curved the ball into the far netting.
Five minutes after tying the game, Declan Moran hit a beautiful free kick over the far defender’s head to find John Guza, who in two touches was able to create space and find the far post, beating the keeper in the opposite direction.
To finish the half, Guza played a thru ball to Taylor, who finished cleanly with a ball that slotted the keeper and near post to make it 3-1.
The second half was slow for the first 20 minutes. Midway through it, our players came alive and we were able to create chances. Luke Martinez put one away that was eventually called back for offsides. Minutes later, Taylor broke free and sealed a hat trick for himself and a 4-1 win for us.
