Brunswick skated to a 4-4 tie with Millbrook on the road on Wednesday afternoon. Back in December, the Bruins (7-5-2) dropped a 3-2 contest to the Mustangs at the Brooks-Pingree Tournament.
Ryan Carmichael scored a pair of goals for the Bruins, while Christian LeSueur and Nick VanBelle each added a goal and an assist in the game.
Following a first period power-play goal by Millbrook, Carmichael countered on the man-advantage with a tip-in goal at 9:14.
Five goals were scored in the second period, as the Bruins bookended goals around three Millbrook tallies. LeSueur began the scoring burst with his 10th goal of the season in the first minute of play to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.
Following the trio of Millbrook goals, Carmichael netted his second goal on the night, finishing off another power-play at 16:18. Carmichael’s second tally was his third on the season.
Trailing 4-3 late in the third period, the Bruins sent starting goalie Strauss Mann (31 saves) to the bench for an extra skater to attack the Millbrook net. The move paid off, as Nick VanBelle netted his team-leading 14th goal at 16:42 to tie the game at 4-4.
Neither team scored in the five minutes of overtime, as the Bruins headed back to Greenwich with a 4-4 tie.
Looking forward, Brunswick will host its next four games at Hartong Rink, beginning with a contest against Hoosac on Saturday, January 14.
