It was Senior Day on Cosby Field on Saturday, and the Bruins celebrated their 14 seniors with a 16-8 win over Westminster.
It was a back and forth first quarter with the Bruins trying to pull away, but Westminster battled hard and stuck around. 4-3 Bruins after one. Fittingly, it was three different seniors – Graham Burchill, Hudson Hausmann, and Robert Plath – that got Brunswick started.
Brunswick began to separate in the second quarter and was responsible for all of the offense before halftime. Seniors Hausmann and Payton Anderson added to the Brunswick lead of 7-3 at the end of the first half.
The Bruins offense netted 11 more goals in the second half, seven of which came in the third quarter. Five of those goal scorers were seniors, most notably Kyle Pagnani, who started his second half hat-trick with two in the third. 14-4 Brunswick.
Two more goals in the fourth, including Pagnani’s third of the game, put the game away for the Bruins and honored the seniors appropriately.
Brunswick will be back on Cosby Field to face Avon Old Farms on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
