Bruins Hold Off RCDS

The varsity baseball team came away with an 8-6 win against a talented RCDS team on Tuesday.

Calder Glassman got the start on the mound for the Bruins, providing five innings of extremely efficient work.  Teddy Bancroft pitched the 6th and Jerry Guzman came in to shut the door.

The Bruins got the offense rolling early as Carlo Tucci lined a hard single into left field, scoring two runs in the second inning.

The fifth inning was when most of the fire power occurred for the Bruins, as four runs came across to score.  Michael Yeager got the inning going as he struck a double into right to bring in a run. Alex Giannuzzi followed suit with a single to bring in two more. And Jackson Shepelsky kept the line moving, as he singled to bring in one run, and make the score 6-0 Brunswick.

The Wildcats did not let the deficit faze them, as they answered right back in the sixth inning with five runs of their own. The Bruins now only had a 6-5 lead.

Heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, the Bruins knew they needed some insurance runs. They did just that, as Yeager came through with his third hit of the game, doubling to score two runs to make the score 8-5.

Guzman came in the seventh inning and held the RCDS lineup to one run to earn the save.

Overall, it was a good team win for the Bruins, as they improved their league record to 3-1 on the season. Next up is GCDS on Wednesday. Yeager will get the start.
