Bruins Clinch Top Seed in FAA Tournament

Brunswick beat GCDS, 52-44, at Dann Gym on Wednesday afternoon to clinch the No. 1 seed in the FAA playoffs for the third year in a row.

It was a tightly contested first half as the Bruins' stingy defense kept them with a slight advantage for the majority of the first 16 minutes of play, despite their offense never truly finding its rhythm. Holding a 21-17 advantage at the break, the home team was confident the shots would eventually start to fall and a run was imminent.

After the first five minutes of the second half, Brunswick's lead had ballooned to 16 points. A Tigers' full court press and foul trouble chipped away at the Bruins' lead, but ultimately Brunswick's defense and timely free throws put the game out of reach in the final minutes.

Ethan Long led the way with 17 points and JP Pray added 10.

The Bruins return to action next Tuesday for the first round of the FAA playoffs.
