Last-Second Field Goal Propels Bruins

Junior Oliver Reynolds drilled a 29-yard field goal as time expired to propel Brunswick to a 24-22 victory against Williston Northampton on Saturday evening at Cosby Field.

The Bruins took the ball on the opening possession and drove 75 yards on nine plays to open the scoring. Highlights included senior QB Eli Cromartie’s 36-yard scramble to put the Bruins on the two-yard line and fellow classmate and RB Bryce Davis’ two-yard TD punch-in.

After a few long drives by both teams — each of which did not ultimately result in any points — Brunswick increased its lead to 14 after a perfectly executed 16-play drive. Key third-down conversions to Matt Colella ’26 and Davis kept the march alive — and the Bruins pushed the ball to the one-yard line on a 16-yard completion to Ty Lloyd ’25. Davis finished it off for his second score of the night.

’Wick kicked off with just 25 second to go in the half, but the Wildcats threw a hook-and-ladder for a 61-yard TD to bring the score to 14-7 at the break.

Williston tied the game on its second drive of the second half after going 10 plays for 66 yards and a touchdown — 14-14.

Cromartie found senior Luke Hublitz for a seven-yard TD strike to cap a nine-play, 64-yard drive and regain the lead for the Bruins.

Williston's offense answered with another long drive of its own that ended with a two-yard run and a successful (and risky) two-point conversion to secure the 22-21 lead with 2:32 remaining in the contest.

After 10 plays, however, the Bruins found their way into field goal range and set the stage for Reynolds’ heroics.

Junior EJ Perez led the defense with 10 tackles, including three for a loss and one sack.

With the win, Brunswick concludes its season with a record of five wins and four losses.
