Upper School students welcomed U.S. Senate Candidate and State Rep. Dan Carter (R-Bethel) to Baker Theater for a Q&A on Thursday, October 6.
Carter, who is serving his third two-year term as State Representative for the 2nd General Assembly District covering Bethel, Danbury, Newtown, and Redding, is the Ranking Member on the legislature’s General Law Committee, and a member of the Education and Finance, Revenue & Bonding committees.
He announced his bid for U.S. Senate — in opposition to Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), who visited with Upper School students last February — in April.
Carter responded to students’ questions about his political career, the current presidential campaign, the economy, and the Second Amendment during an interactive Q&A — encouraging students to take advantage of the unexpected as they look ahead.
“When you see opportunities as you move along — when you see opportunities to stand up and to make a difference — take the shot. You never know where it’s going to take you.
“I never thought I’d be standing here running for United States Senate — and here I am.”
