Golf Suffers First Setback at Brunswick Invitational
Bergen Catholic took top honors at the 2016 Brunswick Invitational at the Round Hill Golf Course on Thursday. Brunswick finished in a tie for second in the 18-hole, low-four aggregate event, 23 strokes behind Bergen Catholic.
Brunswick finished in a tie for second with Greenwich High and New Canaan, as the trio of schools each shot 323 on the day, while Bergen Catholic shot 300.
In less than optimal scoring conditions Bergan Catholic averaged 75 on the challenging Round Hill layout.
Greenwich High’s Jackson Fretty shot a tournament-best 71, for medalist honors.
The Brunswick contingent of Eric Ganshaw and Matt Camel shot 81’s, while John Hughes and Lance Johnson carded 82’s. Charlie Knight, was the only Bruin to break 80, finished the 18-hole event with a 79, in the best competitive round so far of his varsity career.
With the loss and two ties, Brunswick’s season record is 13-1-3. Up next for the Bruins is a match versus The Hill School and Gilman, set for Saturday, in Pottstown, Pennsylvania.
