Baseball Wins by 10 Runs for 11th Straight Victory

Brunswick Tristan Sarcone scattered three hits in a six-inning gem, as the Bruins crushed FAA rival Hamden Hall on Tuesday, 10-0. The win is the 11th straight for Brunswick (11-1, 7-0) as MSGVarsity’s fourth-ranked squad remains undefeated in FAA play.

In the first inning, a bases-loaded single by Wilson Salomon scored the first two runs for the visitors.

The Bruins added four runs in the second inning to up their lead to 6-0.

After allowing the first two Bruin batters to reach base in the second inning, the Hornets changed pitchers. Connor Redahan then executed an excellent sacrifice bunt, putting Brunswick runners on second and third.

Trevor Johnson followed with an RBI double to left, giving Brunswick a 3-0 lead.

With runners still at second and third, Michael Marzonie launched a no-doubt, towering three-run homer over the left field fence for a 6-0 advantage.

A three-run fifth inning padded the Bruins lead, highlighted by an RBI single by Ryan Hanrahan and a two-RBI single by Teddy Sabato.

Brunswick added its final run in the sixth, when pinch-runner Kyle Przypek scored from third base on an errant infield throw by the Hornets.

That was plenty of run support for Sarcone, as the lefty cruised all the way into the sixth inning, where he got out of a no-out, bases-loaded jam.

The Hornets had runners on all the bases, but a nifty double-play took any momentum away from the hosts.

After a potential sacrifice fly to center was caught by Johnson, the strong-armed outfielder doubled-up the runner on third base with a timely and accurate throw to Marzonie, who covered the bag.

Sarcone enticed the final hitter to fly out to right field to end the contest in six innings, as the Bruins reached the 10-run advantage threshold.

With the shut-out win, Sarcone moves to 2-0 on the year. The hurler went six innings, striking out six, while spraying just three singles.

Salomon led the Bruins with three hits, including a double and two RBI, while Marzonie had a double and a three-run homer. Redahan added a pair of singles and scored a run, as Teddy Sabato chipped in with a two-RBI single. Johnson’s RBI double was the Bruins’ other extra-base hit in the game.
