Big Second Period Keys Hockey Win

Brunswick used a four goal burst to break open a scoreless game against visiting New Hampton on Sunday at Hartong Rink, topping the Huskies, 5-1.

Junior Nick VanBelle led the eighth-ranked Bruins (17-4-2) with two goals, while classmate Strauss Mann picked up his fifth win in goal, making 31 saves.
 
Senior Eric Ganshaw scored his fourth goal of the season to start the run, while senior Colin Slyne’s 13th goal made it 2-0 for the Bruins. Wilson Stephenson ’18 scored his first career Brunswick goal at 14:18 to make it a 3-0 lead, before VanBelle capped the run with his 11th tally of the season.
 
After New Hampton netted its lone goal at 3:00 of the third period, VanBelle netted his 12th goal to finish the scoring at 5-1 in favor of the hosts.
 
Mann had another strong outing for Brunswick, highlighted by thwarting a shorthanded breakaway by New Hampton in the second period to keep the game scoreless.
 
The Bruins travel to Lawrenceville (3-14-2) on Wednesday, February 10, for their next game.
