M.I.T.-Bound Nwana Eclipses 1,000 Points in Loss to St. Luke's
Hours after a ceremony where Nacho Nwana confirmed his decision to attend M.I.T., the senior captain eclipsed 1,000 career points on Friday night against St. Luke's. Despite Nwana's milestone, the Bruins fell to the Storm in an FAA contest inside a packed Dann Gym, 87-51.
With the loss, Brunswick falls to 4-10 overall and 3-4 in FAA action, while St. Luke's improves to 14-1 on the season and a perfect 10-0 in conference play.
On the annual White Out Night contest, Brunswick took an early 10-5 lead on junior Charles Sealy’s put-back, but St. Luke’s countered with a 21-2 run in the following minutes, hitting a number of three-pointers along the way.
The Storm combined a turnover-causing full-court press and sharpshooting long-range marksmen, to take a 40-24 lead at the break.
St. Luke’s extended its lead in the second half, and cruised to the 87-51 final.
Nacho Nwana, the first Bruin since Kevin Decker '07 to reach 1,000 points, finished with 16 points. His brother, Muna, led Brunswick with 19, as the sophomore hit four three-pointers in the game.
