Bruin Hoopsters Advance to FAA Semifinals

In front of a jam-packed crowd at Dann Gymnasium, Brunswick erased a 16-point second half deficit, rallying to defeat Greens Farms Academy, 86–77, in overtime, to advance to the FAA semifinals.

The Dragons, who led 35–28 at halftime, opened up a 59–43 lead in the second half before Brunswick came storming back with a 13–0 run to set the stage for the thrilling finale.

Junior Nacho Nwana’s drive to the basket — with less than 30 seconds to play — tied the game at 71 and forced overtime, where the Bruins pulled ahead for good and secured the playoff victory.

Senior guard Billy O’Malley led ’Wick’s offense with a game-high 27 points, while Nwana added 20 points and nine rebounds.

The Bruins, now 13–9 on the season, will travel to Masters School for Friday’s semifinal matchup.

Tip-time is set for 4:30 p.m. in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.
